3 Insider Options for the Cheapest ATL Airport Employee Parking
Employee parking at the ATL Airport is tough. Shift uncovers three Insider options for the cheapest airport employee parking.
In 2025 something important happened in South Metro- more employees had real transportation options than they did the year before. Clear information, individualized support, and expanded service options worked together to expand access and opportunity.
Shift connected more than 6,000 South Metro employees to commute resources this year, with over 5,000 direct interactions across planning tools, campaigns, and service support. Behind those numbers are workers figuring out how to get to early shifts, late nights, and weekend jobs with fewer unknowns and more reliability.
Shift’s day-to-day impact is rooted in practical commute problem-solving- helping people identify commute options they can actually use. In 2025, more than 150 airport employees requested and received a Shift 5-Step Commute Plan; personalized custom route planning that supports walking, biking, transit, and microtransit, depending on what works for each commuter’s workday. In addition, Shift hosted more than twenty-five workforce and community events, providing in-person 1:1 support to more than 1,600 local employees.
In August 2025 Shift introduced Shift On Demand – a free and reliable, microtransit commute option for the local community addressing the most critical trips for people living or working in the ATL airport area. Shift On Demand serves people traveling to or from one of two key subareas in South Metro – South Cargo + ATL Airport. Within its first 90 days of service, Shift On Demand completed more than 11,000 trips, providing clear evidence of immediate demand and practical value.
The zone-based, on-demand microtransit pilot provides app-based booking within a defined service area, offering door-to-door service for nearby residential neighborhoods and a critical first/last-mile connection between College Park Station and nearby hubs.
To ensure Shift On Demand met the real-world needs of people, Shift worked hand-in-hand with the community and the service was designed to support travel pain points, and first/last-mile barriers. Ongoing coordination with riders ensures the service continues to reflect real needs, not theoretical travel patterns. Service hours, pickup locations, and outreach strategies were shaped by direct feedback from the people using it every day.
Shift believes solving tough commutes shouldn’t fall solely on individual employees. Reliable transportation is a workforce issue, and employers play a critical role in stabilizing it.
In 2025, Shift met with more than 50 local employers, property managers, and community organizations to strengthen commute support and benefits programs across South Metro. These conversations weren’t theoretical; they focused on real operational challenges showing up on the ground.
From developing vanpool strategies for workforces with limited access to U.S. driver’s licenses, to supporting new-hire onboarding with Day 1 commute information and MARTA passes, Shift worked alongside employers to reduce early attrition, close last-mile gaps, and take pressure off frontline supervisors.
In many cases the work began with listening and understanding where employees live, which shifts are hardest to staff, and where existing transportation options fall short. From there, practical, right-sized solutions were developed to improve reliability and expand access to jobs.
Commute challenges don’t resolve themselves. They require proactive coordination and shared investment, and South Metro employers increasingly recognize that getting employees to work reliably is part of building a resilient workforce.
Commutes can be one of the most stressful parts of the workday. In 2025 Shift ran a series of modal campaigns designed to flip that script- adding energy, incentives, and a little friendly competition to daily travel.
Shift gamified commuting throughout the year, through a number of community-wide challenges that gave South Metro employees the chance to log trips, earn points, and cash in for meaningful prizes like free gas for a month, a year of free MARTA, and other incentives that made trying something new feel worth it.
Beyond the prizes, Shift campaigns like Try Transit, Biketober, and Share the Ride encouraged employees to test different modes, reduce reliance on costly ride-hailing, and build new habits in a low-pressure way. November’s Share the Ride campaign alone generated more than 350 carpool trips to local worksites, highlighting the simple power of catching or offering a ride to work.
These challenges gave people a reason to try something different- riding with a coworker, taking the bus for the first time, or biking to their nearest MARTA station. When commuting feels shared and approachable, taking that first step gets easier.

If 2025 proved anything, it’s that commute challenges aren’t fixed overnight, but they are fixable.
Real progress happens when services reflect how people actually travel, when information is clear, and when employers share responsibility in helping workers get to and from their jobs. In 2026, Shift will continue building on that foundation- working to find our community options that work for them and ensuring everyone has the information and support they need to get to work.
That means:
Every route, ride, and arrival represents a person navigating real-world constraints- shift changes, school pickups, rising commute costs, and long days. Shift is built to meet those realities head-on.
