ATL Airport Community Improvement Districts Celebrates Relaunch and Expansion of Commuter Services Program

On the morning of September 18th, business leaders gathered at the Georgia International Convention Center for an exclusive first look at Shift, the ATL Airport CIDs’ innovative new program poised to redefine commuting in the Atlanta Airport area.

Pioneering Mobility for the ATL Airport’s Communities

This event offered an opportunity to explore solutions that are set to transform how people travel to and from South Metro, including the ATL Airport Community Improvement Districts’ (ATL Airport CIDs) newly expanded commute services initiative Shift, which is designed to make daily commutes less stressful, more efficient, and far more convenient.

Gerald McDowell, Executive Director of the ATL Airport CIDs, shared his vision for the future. “With Shift, we’re bridging the gap between the workforce and the transportation solutions they need, ensuring South Metro continues to be a thriving, connected, and attractive place for businesses to grow and for residents to live and work,” McDowell explained. “The launch of Shift marks a significant step toward improving mobility in our community.”

Unveiling Game-Changing Transportation Solutions

Attendees were also introduced to exciting projects like the Automated Transit Network (ATN) and microtransit services. These forward-thinking initiatives are designed to bring greater connectivity and flexibility to daily commutes, addressing the evolving needs of the community.

Krystal Harris, ATL Airport CIDs Program Director, highlighted the significance of these developments. “Our vision is to create a more connected transportation network that meets the unique needs of South Metro,” said Harris. “This means forging a path that raises the level of service by testing and introducing flexible, accessible, and reliable mobility solutions.”
